Brazilian Jiu Jitsu vs. The Undead – Zombie Survival w/RevenantFX

Soo… Zombie survival is today’s topic. Ever wonder how to fend off the undead while your down?  Rob McAlpine has the answer for you in the form of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!

Over the summer we had the privilege of vending at the Toronto Runforyourlives event at Burl’s Creek. To say it was an interesting experience would be an understatement; zombies, runners, mud, rain and gale force winds combined to make for an epic outing with the undead. Needless to say, we had a great time and got to meet plenty of awesome people, sell lots of zombie gnomes, give lots of zombie makeup advice and spread the infection a little more while we were at it 😉

Among all of those awesome people we met one stood out in particular as he got us to help him out with making a short instructional video on how to defend yourself against the dead. His name is Robert McAlpine and he is a master of dispatching the undead, you can see more of his videos here:

So without further a due, remember: Zombie survival is an essential skill so check it out below…. it may save your life 😉

Handmade Horror

Just like Zombie Gnomes, Handmade and OOAK horror items can be hard to come by. Over the Christmas holidays we each received a few amazing pieces made by some fellow independent horror  inspired artists as gifts.

As huge horrorhounds ourselves, we’re constantly on the lookout for rare, unique, handmade and OOAK items that pertain to zombies, horror, Halloween  and generally anything that goes bump in the night. That said, we realize its our obligatory duty to share some for these amazing acquisitions with you!

better a little late than never :p

The Devil’s Latex

First we have the “Burnt Guy” mask made by The Devil’s Latex. He’s not the first mask we’ve got from them and he won’t be the last either but dear god! He is AMAZING!!

Thick latex, insanely detailed paint job, acrylic eyes… what more could you ask for? Every feature one would look for in a latex mask and for a great price too!

Steve is also an awesome guy to deal with as well and he’s probably got the biggest/best line of Slasher masks available anywhere (Jason, Freddy, Myers, Leatherface, etc. he’s got them all)

So if your in the market for some sick latex check them out here:

Knives4Fingers Gloves

The next item we received was a Nightmare On Elm Street replica glove from K4F Gloves and this thing is to die for (much pun intended). It’s Such a cool piece that since we got it, it’s spend more time on my hand than in the display case.

The gloves are 100% handmade with copper/brass plates and fingers, stainless steel blades and a leather or suede glove. Each one comes burnt, weathered and nasty just like on screen. We got a part one and it even included the index finger break as seen in the original movie (look close, it’s there! )

Very well crafted & sturdy… The Burnt Man himself would approve!

They can be found here:

One of the more fashion oriented pieces Sadie got was a handmade+ up-cycled Michael Myers dress. Each of these are made to order in a size and style of your choice.  There are also a few different options for the straps and edging.

Eryn was a pleasure to deal with and got it shipped out super quick in time to arrive before Christmas. She’s got tons more designs and different graphics available in her Etsy shop here:

Duke Dastardly

Another awesome find was this:

We actually ordered this as a Christmas gift for someone else but once it arrived it took every last ounce of our Christmas “cheer” to actually hand it over to him :p

It’s 12x18in, professionally printed on a semi gloss paper and in person it looks soo sleek. Combined with one of the glass border frames you can get most place it looks classy as the day it died. what? ya thats right lol.

More can be found here:

Hope you enjoyed and found something ghoulishly new and exciting!

more to come as we acquire it ;P

Zombie Gnomes and The Deathly Chill Of Winter

Hey there guys and ghouls!

It’s been a while since our last update so here’s what’s going on in the Zombie Gnome factory:

We’ve been hibernating over the last few weeks trying to escape the clammy cold grasp of Old Man Winter.  For those of  you living in warmer climates around the world you may not be aware of him, he’s an evil bastard and he hates Canadians more than most… Something to do with all of us living in his muchly coveted northern hemisphere. Apparently, he’s not much for sharing..  So, for a few months of each year he attempts to make our lives as dreary and miserable as possible through the use of snow, wind, slush, cold weather and the awful small talk of the weather that comes with them..

Needless to say, We don’t much care for him.

So, we’ve been spending as much time as possible indoors working on spreading the infection without freezing it first :p As some of you may have seen on our facebook page ( we’ve completed the first few prototypes of our smaller “Bite Size” Zombie Gnomes. We’re currently just working on smoothing out the final kinks in   producing them and then we’ll be selling them along side our full size gnomes.

Also, The Lepracadaver is quickly nearing completion as well. His latex mold is complete and as soon as we get a day of warm enough weather his fiberglass mothermold will be made and the castings of him will begin 🙂

Lastly, We got to make our first few Infected Apparel t-shirts this week. The trails and tribulations of learning to silk screen have been a non-stop uphill battle but we’re learning a little more with each attempt.  More news to come on the t-shirt front soon… In the mean time though, here’s a little preview of some future designs.

Hope you enjoy and feel free to comment, share, inquire and as always;

Spread The Infection!!

Till next time,

Welcome to 2013: The Year Of The Living Dead

Hope that Christmas was a terrorific event for all!

We know that quite a few homes were infected over the holidays; Santa Corpse and his army of ravenous Zombie Gnomes crawled their way under many a tree for Christmas morning..

Screams of shock, terror and joy echoed far and wide across the snowy land; we were happy to play a part in causing them 😉

And now it’s 2013

This year looks promising for the undead. A new Evil Dead movie on the way (which looks amazing from the previews), a FPS Walking Dead game (because shooting zombies never looses it’s luster) along with the second half of season 3, World War Z (a zombie movie starring Brad Pitt, how can that not be promising?!?) and lest we forget, a whole horde of new Zombie Gnomes and other atrocities from us!!

To help propel our efforts RevenantFX HQ has been undertaking many renovations over the past few weeks. most recently over the weekend our beloved bar made the ultimate sacrifice and thanks to those wonderful  Swedish trolls at Ikea we now have a WARM INDOOR  workspace 🙂

We also stocked up on hundreds of pounds of stone and every other imaginable gnome making supply we could get our hands on. Needless to say, production in the gnome factory is about to get back underway!

Also, for all those who have been patiently awaiting; this means we’ll be re-stock our Etsy shop soon 😉

That’s all for gnow fiends!

till next time,

The last day on earth..

Well… the world didn’t seem to end. So, welcome back!

Happy to see you returned; your hunger for more is what fuels us, don’t you know?

…that and BRAINS! delicious, tasty, succulent BRAAAINS!!

Sweet, warm, fresh, juic…

I digress.

Anyways, we’ve been pretty busy here at RevenantFX headquarters over the past few weeks getting all them gnomes shipped out in time for Christmas like a couple of demonic bloodthirsty little elves.  Preparing for Christmas in general as well.

Also, we celebrated Sadie’s birthday this past weekend. She turned 21.. again. Needless to say we all ended up in a zombie-ish state by the end of it and the recovery has been slow.

Happy Birthday Sadie!!

Somewhere in the midst of all that we managed to complete the sculpts for the first 4 of our upcoming set of “bite size” zombie gnomes (pictures to come soon!)

As you may notice we’ve also been working non-stop making improvements on this site. Like anything else, learning the mechanics of what goes into making a website + function and becoming that little man behind the curtains has been no easy task; but then again, who said the business of gnoming was easy?

Soo… That brings us to the end of today’s update. Technically speaking there are actually 5hrs and 22 mins left of this day, so maybe the end is still on it’s way. If that be the case remember “You don’t end up dead if you always aim for the head”.

If indeed we do survive these last few hours my next post will include no references to the end of the world…

unless of course if it’s to come from a zombie outbreak. Then I’m allowed! Deal? Cool.

The begining of the end…

How appropriate that we should begin to launch our web page on the eve of the apparent apocalypse..

One can only wonder if in just 2 days the supposed end of the world will come at the withering decayed hands of zombies?

We can only hope 😉

Regardless,  it has become apparent to us here at RevenantFX that if indeed the world does survive the 21st day of this month; We will need to work at spreading the infection just a little bit harder. Our mission:  simple.  Zombie Gnomes everywhere!

We will work at spreading our Zombie plague to every home in north America and the world thereafter. Bringing back the dead one gnome at a time!

Our efforts will also include more of our Zombie Taxidermy (latex display masks of the dead), some undead apparel in the new year, a few surprises and as always there are more Zombie Gnomes on the way (“bite size” Gnomes are currently in prototyping)!

So, with all that said you have arrived here, read all that and may be asking yourself  “Where is everything? This is an unfinished wordpress site with nothing for me to see! ” and you would be right.. We are currently in the process of figuring out just how to set up a website for the first time, so please bear with us…. All things truely gruesome take time to decay! We should be fully operational sometime in the next few weeks, so feel free to check back. Until then we can still be found on Facebook at and our gnome can still be purchased on our Etsy site here:

Thanks for reading and till next time.. rest in pieces!
